As stated in Jonas 4:2, GOD is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, abundant devoted love and do not want disaster. In the book of Jonas, GOD tell Jonas to prophecies that the city of Ninevah would be destroyed in 40 days. Jonas reluctantly goes into the city and called out “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!”, the people of Ninevah repent and turn from their evil ways. GOD did not destroy Ninevah. In Genesis 8, Abraham interceded for Sodom and negotiate with GOD, so that GOD would not destroy Sodom if there are 10 righteous men living in Sodom down from 50. GOD agreed, but not even 10 righteous men can be found in Sodom. Also Lot managed to convince GOD to spare a small city. It is possible to sway GOD’s decision. If enough men return to Father, we could negotiate with GOD to spare the rest from destruction! Ezekiel 18:23 GOD do not take pleasure in the death of the wicked, he would rather give the wicked chance to turn righteous. GOD further add in Ezekiel 18:32 that he has no pleasure in the death of anyone. Only Father knows when the end would be, Jesus do not know. Father’s decision changes based on men’s deed. The end arrives when Father said so.
Jonas 4:2 (author) GOD gracious, merciful
2 And he prayed to the LORD and said, “O LORD, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.
Ezekiel 18:21-24 (GOD) Wicked turn righteous, righteous turns wicked
21 “But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live. 23 Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live? 24 But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice and does the same abominations that the wicked person does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds that he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, for them he shall die.
Ezekiel 18:30-32 (GOD) Each judged according to his ways.
30 “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord GOD. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord GOD; so turn, and live.”
